I own a condo in Calgary, right along the Elbow River. The 2013 flood destroyed the building’s basement. These pictures show what remained after most of the debris was cleaned out. It was hard to believe anyone had ever lived there. The effect was profound and haunting.
In 2014, I went to Burning Man with Tanya, and four of my closest friends. The experience was amazing — that such a vibrant community could spring up in the middle of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert is astounding. From fantastical people to art bikes and installations, here are some of the things I saw on the playa.
